Plagiarism Checking and Policies

How do we check for plagiarism? Before undergoing peer review, manuscripts submitted to Revista Ciência Dinâmica are analyzed using Plagius Professional software or a similar tool for detecting plagiarism. Any suspicion identified will be manually reviewed by the Editorial Committee, which will follow guidelines and standards on academic plagiarism available at the links below.

The journal will contact the authors if suspicions are confirmed. In these cases, the Commission aims to publish only original works, in accordance with its Code of Ethics and Conduct. It is the journal's principle to inform its authors and co-authors about the most common plagiarism practices, in order to promote awareness and prevention.

What is considered plagiarism? Plagiarism is the act of copying or using someone else's ideas, words, images, among others, without giving due credit. This may include copying text from sources without citing the original source, using images or graphics without permission, or even presenting other people's ideas as your own. In academic, professional and artistic contexts, plagiarism is considered unethical and can result in serious consequences. It is always important to correctly cite sources and give credit where credit is due.(Plagius, 2024)

What does the Plagius Professional program do? Plagius Professional is software designed to help detect plagiarism in documents and texts. It offers tools to compare entered text with a variety of sources, including the internet, academic databases, and other documents. The program can highlight passages suspected of plagiarism and provides detailed reports on similarities found. This tool is useful for teachers, writers, students and professionals who want to ensure the originality of their work. However, the software cannot directly identify plagiarism; Only a manual analysis can validate whether a "misappropriation" of ideas has actually occurred.
